Champai Soren Sworn as Chief Minister of Jharkhand
JMM Leader Succeeds Hemant Soren
WEB Champai Soren, a senior leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), has been sworn in as the seventh Chief Minister of Jharkhand. Soren succeeded Hemant Soren, who resigned from the post on 2 February 2024 due to disqualification by the Election Commission.
The 67-year-old tribal leader met with state governor CP Radhakrishnan to stake claim to form the new government, claiming the support of 47 MLAs. JMM and the Congress have accused Governor CP Radhakrishnan of delaying the government formation in Jharkhand, despite Soren's claim of support.
Soren is a prominent tribal leader and politician from Jharkhand. He is currently a member of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, representing the Simdega constituency.
