Oklahoma to Experience Total Solar Eclipse in 2024
Total Path from Northwest to Southeast
Oklahoma will be among the states fortunate enough to witness a total solar eclipse on April 1, 2024. The path of totality, where the moon completely covers the sun, will begin in Mexico and traverse Oklahoma from northwest to southeast, starting around 7:00 AM EDT. Several cities and towns in Oklahoma will be located directly in the path of the eclipse.
Shults, Oklahoma: Longest Viewing Time
The town of Shults, approximately 3 miles east of Idabel, is expected to have the longest duration of totality in Oklahoma, with approximately 3 minutes and 50 seconds of darkness. Other communities in the path of totality include Idabel, Valliant, Broken Bow, and Hugo.
